Teeth Removal Dentist in NAPLES
The wisdom teeth are often problematic. Often, the mouth may be too small to accommodate large third molars, and in turn, they often become impacted. A number of issues can arise in impacted wisdom teeth, such as abscesses and other infections, cysts and tumors.
Many patients choose to have wisdom teeth removal as a preventive measure to limit their chances of developing such issues with the wisdom teeth. Patient's often opt for wisdom tooth extraction before age 25, and this is the preferred timeframe. Older patients can be candidates for the procedure too, however they should be prepared for a longer recovery time.
The third molars are not the only teeth that are candidates for surgical extraction. Surgery may be needed to remove any tooth that has been damaged to the extent that there is insufficient crown material remaining to facilitate a simple extraction. For better outcomes in these cases, a surgical extraction likely will be recommended.
To maximize our patients' comfort during surgical tooth extraction, we offer sedation or general anesthesia to allow patients to sleep during the procedure.
If you still have your wisdom teeth, speak with one of our oral surgeons about the benefits of having them removed and the process that is involved in doing so. We can collaborate on a treatment plan that will give you maximum comfort and minimal disruption to your routine.
